I had a brief chat yesterday with Mike Little about his involvement in the new WordPress project. I think Mike does great work and I’m looking forward to seeing what comes out of this effort. Hopefully some of the separate efforts to extend b2 will merge into a single project and we’ll have an even better blog engine because of it. I think a full re-write leveraging PHP 5.0 (when 5.0 is stable) is probably a good idea down the road.

UPDATE: The other b2-based projects I was referring to are YABBOB and b2 and Smarty.
